Social features

SpecialsNear.Me is better with friends. Follow your favorite businesses to stay in the loop, add friends to see where they're going, and get notified when something you care about changes.

Sign-in required for all features on this page. Sign in or create a free account.

Following businesses

Click the heart iconon any business's profile page to follow that business. Following a business means:

  • It appears in the Followed Businesses section of your profile for quick access.
  • You receive a notification whenever that business posts a new special.

To unfollow, click the heart icon again on the business's profile page.

Friends

The friends system lets you see where your social circle is spending their time so you can join them or discover new places together.

Adding a friend

  1. Go to your Profile page.
  2. Open the Friends panel.
  3. Search by name or email address.
  4. Click Send Request. Your friend will see a pending request on their profile.

Accepting a friend request

When someone sends you a friend request, a notification appears and the request shows up in the Pending Requests section of your Friends panel. Click Accept to connect or Decline to pass.

Removing a friend

Open the Friends panel, find the friend, and click Unfriend. This removes the connection for both of you.

Seeing friends on listings

When you view a special's listing page, the attendance carouselshows you if any of your friends have marked “I'm Going.” Their avatars appear at the front of the carousel so you can spot them at a glance. This makes it easy to decide whether to join friends at an event or discover something new they've found.

Notifications

Your notification feed lives in the Notificationspanel on your Profile page. Notifications you'll receive include:

Managing notifications

  • Click any notification to navigate to the related listing or page.
  • Click Mark as read on individual notifications to clear them.
  • Use Mark all as read to clear the entire feed at once.

Unread notifications are shown with a badge on your profile icon in the navigation bar.
